Highland, IL –HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital – Highland was recently recognized for its commitment to patient safety and patient experience with the 2017 Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award and 2017 Healthgrades Outpatient Experience Award. These awards recognize hospitals with the lowest occurrences of preventable patient safety events and excellence in the overall patient experience provided to patients. Hospitals awarded the Patient Safety Excellence Award rank in the top 15 percent in the nation with the highest overall patient experience scores. Hospitals awarded the Patient Safety Excellence Award rank in the top 10 percent in the nation for patient safety.

Healthgrades evaluates hospitals for each award based on specific criteria over a 12-month period. Hospitals that are awarded the Outstanding Patient Experience Award are scored on 10 patient experience measures, using the data collected from the 32-question survey completed by each hospital’s patients. Hospitals that receive the Patient Safety Excellence Award have the lowest occurrences of 14 preventable patient safety events. This is the second consecutive year St. Joseph’s Hospital has received the Patient Safety Excellence Award.
