HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Promotes a Low Stress Black Friday

Highland, IL – With millions of shoppers expected in stores on Black Friday, HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital unveiled several recommendations to ensure a more comfortable, enjoyable and safe experience. Black Friday, traditionally the busiest shopping day of the year, is held on November 25, 2016. Black Friday accounted for 74.2 million shoppers in 2015.

The hospital encourages residents to use the following guidelines on Black Friday:

1.    Map out where you want to go before Black Friday to reduce stress and save time.

2.    Start shopping early.

Black Friday is no longer a one-day event. If you’re proactive and seek out stores who offer their deals all week long, you will avoid the traffic and stress that the actual day would be sure to hold.

3.    Consider waiting for Cyber Monday on November 28.

From the warmth, safety and comfort of your home, consider navigating the World Wide Web in search of the best prices on everything.

4.   Get enough sleep.

One way to bring on stress is to be over-tired. Instead, make sure you go to bed earlier the night before and get a full night’s sleep before heading out to do any shopping.

5.    Give It a Break: Rather than pushing yourself, your family, or your friends to the breaking point, be sure to take a break. Simply sitting in a chair to watch the passers-by can give you the extra energy you need to make it to the finish line.
